Latest Safety Update
Following the latest Government guidelines it is now mandatory to wear a face covering when you use Kapten. This helps ensure your safety, your driver’s safety and the safety of passengers using the service after you.
A face covering can be any cloth that covers both your nose and mouth, it does not need to be a medical mask. Our partner drivers will be advised to wear a face covering from today and they are allowed to refuse your trip should you not have a suitable face covering.
To ensure social distancing measures are adhered to, a maximum of 3 passengers all from the same household will be allowed to travel using the backseat, on each trip.
In light of ongoing COVID-19 and in line with government advice to limit all but essential travel we've decided to temporarily suspend our referral program as well as to temporarily suspend redemption of points in our loyalty program. These programs are designed to reward people who travel the most and those who recommend others to travel with us, which is in direct conflict with the government advice at this time.
We continue to remain in operation for those who need us to make essential journeys, and you will still earn loyalty points for each ride, but you won't be able to redeem your points at this time. Existing discounts will follow their regular expiry date. If you'd like further details regarding your discounts, please take a look at the 'Coupons and Credits' section of the app.
The health and safety of our community is of the utmost importance, which is why we’re taking active measures to ensure the wellbeing of all riders, partner drivers and employees.
If you become unwell:
If you suspect you might be unwell. Do not book rides to the hospital, isolate yourself and contact 111 if symptoms are severe and cannot be managed at home. If you test positive for COVID-19, or display symptoms, and have taken a ride with us in the last 7 days, we ask that you please notify us as soon as possible.
If a driver becomes unwell:
Should a partner driver you have driven with in the last 7 days test positive for COVID-19 or display symptoms, we will notify you. At a time where disruption to your day-to-day lives is unfortunate and inevitable, we ask everyone to be vigilant and put their health and the health of others first.
If you do plan on travelling, remember to follow NHS hygiene practices and if you feel even a little unwell, stay at home!
Stay safe and only travel if it is essential
The Kapten team
We wanted to take the time to reassure you that we’re in constant contact with Public Health and TfL, who are advising us on appropriate measures to take.
At present, we will continue operating as normal. However, we’re mindful that given the nature of our business, it’s our duty to remind you all to follow appropriate hygiene practices.
Here are a few simple steps you can take to protect yourselves and those around you:
- Remember to wash hands regularly with soap and hot water, and use hand sanitiser where possible.
- Avoid touching your face.
- Avoid close contact with those who appear to be unwell with flu-like symptoms.
- Always use a tissue, remembering to cover your nose and mouth when coughing and/or sneezing. If a tissue is not available, use your sleeve rather than your hands.
- If you experience any symptoms of illness, stay home and take time off work. Do not put others at risk by going into public spaces.
- DO NOT book a ride if you feel unwell. If your COVID-19 symptoms are severe and cannot be managed at home, telephone NHS 111 for advice prior to arranging a hospital visit.
Whilst it’s important to remember that your risk of contamination from sharing a car with someone is relatively low, we recommend keeping a window open for ventilation when travelling and washing your hands after touching contact points like seatbelts, doors, and windows. Please also avoid touching other people’s phones.
If you have any questions or concerns, our customer service team and driver team are always here to help.
For further advice on how to keep yourselves and others safe, please consult the NHS website.
Thanks for your patience and cooperation.
